The Philadelphia Flyers have won the Winter Classic preview as they defeat the Boston Bruins 3-1 in Boston.
The Bruins played decent hockey through the first 2 periods, but once the 3rd began, it was like they lost their hockey instincts. Whatever happened during the 2nd intermission must have put a damper in the Bruins spirits because what we saw in the 3rd was not pretty. Did they watch the first 20 minutes of UP? Did they watch Bambie's mother die? Were they upset that NESN talked about the Red Sox during the first intermission for about 10 fucking minutes?
Whoa, sorry there, back on track...
Brian "Don't call me Bobby" Boucher played well in net for the Flyers stopping 26 of 27 shots and holding the Bruins to an 0-3 power play. Tim Thomas didn't play poorly for the Bruins either, making 35 of 37 saves.
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
The Good:
The first 2 periods. Look, it wasn't pretty but it was effective hockey. The Bruins were able to exert their muscle on the Flyers, especially in the beginning of the second period. The Bruins also killed 3 penalties in those two periods.
The Bad:
The Power Play. Once again the power play is forgettable, with the Bruins blowing 3 chances. The Bruins were 25th (17.4%) on the power play heading into tonight's game and could drop lower when morning hits. One thing is for sure, if the Bruins want to make the playoffs they will need to convert on the power play.
The Ugly:
The Third Period. Seriously, it was awful. The Flyers tied, and took the lead, within 10 minutes of the third period and never looked back. Sure, the officiating was terrible all game, but that doesn't mean we can fully blame this loss on the zebras. The Bruins played like shit and deserved to lose.
Win of the Night
Putting on the end of the Celtics game and getting this text message:
"Rasheed (Wallace) always looks like he is a moment away from stabbing you and taking your shit."
